I drive around the State of Texas frequently to visit user groups in San Antonio, Dallas, and even right here in Austin. But my favorite drive is the one to Houston. Unlike the San Antonio and Dallas trips which are 100% freeway, the ride along HWY 290 is peppered with small towns. Manor, Elgin, Giddings, even little ol' Paige (pop. 275) offer a quick respite to highway speeds, and that hometown USA architecture that conjurs up images of the 1920's and earlier. Even if I decide to take HWY 71, I still get to go through Bastrop and LaGrange (a-how how how how). Sure, I'll eventually hook-up with I-10 this way, but it's called the Katy Freeway around those parts and I really just like the sound of that.
So anyway, the whole point here is that I'm looking forward to this afternoon's drive to Houston for the Houston SolidWorks User Group meeting tonight. Joe Lance and Nicole Walden have stepped up to help strengthen the group, and I hear they may be expecting up to 100 people tonight. The attendees were promised a presentation by a "SolidWorks Guru" - I hope they won't be disappointed to see that its me.
I met with Joe and Nicole at SolidWorks World, and the energy they brought to that meeting was amazing. Both of them are very excited about seeing HOUSUG become the largest user group ever. I think they'll get a good start tonight.
Anyone know of a Mechanical Design job in Houston related to plastics and plastic tooling?
