Kansas City SWUGN summit

Had the opportunity to attend the Kansas City SWUGN Technical Summit. Great event and turn out (90+ attendees). These are one day user group events with 2 technical presentation tracks.

WMSWUG Meeting

Had the pleasure of attending and presenting at the renewed Western Michigan SolidWorks User Group. Great turn out for the 1st meeting (40-50 people). We had a presentation on the SolidWorks API, SolidWorks Customer Portal, and the SolidWorks Installation Manager.

I wanted to thank all those who turned out, and everyone who help setup the meeting, in particular Fred Egge.

You Can Go Home Again

I'll be on the road a lot starting next week and continuing through August.  SWUGN Summit events will take me to Kansas City on July 25th, and Seattle the 22nd of August.  I'll be a speaker at the De Anza College SolidWorks User Group August 10th.  But the date that's circled in red on my calendar is Tuesday, August 8th.  That's the day the Redwood Empire SolidWorks User Group meets in my home town of Rohnert Park, California.

I moved to Rohnert Park as a young boy in 1968, and my family and I left the area in 1980.  I've been back a few times (including the inaugural meeting of RESUG in October of 2005), and I'm looking forward to seeing some old friends and attending the meeting in a community center named after a former schoolmate.  And of course, I'll take the requisite drive past the house I grew up in.

Being a part of the SolidWorks Community is always special.  Sometimes it's extra special.

User Groups Around the World

The SolidWorks User Group Network is very happy with the success of local user group chapters in North America.  More than 90 groups (and growing) in the US and Canada alone.  Over the next few months, we'll be focusing a lot of energy on international user groups.  We've had a recent flurry of inquiries from users in Europe, and if all goes according to plan, we'll have at least two new user groups in England within the next couple of months.  India and China will also get a lot of attention.

There are currently 17 international user groups registered with SWUGN, not nearly enough in my opinion.  We're going to change that starting now.
