Formlabs at SWW18: New Engineering Materials, SLS 3D Printing, and the Future of Production

We’re only a few weeks in, and 2018 is already promising to be an exciting year for 3D printing.

Formlabs kicked off the new year with the introduction of two new engineering resins, Grey Pro and Rigid, and this year will bring the Fuse 1 selective laser sintering (SLS) 3D printer into the world.

The Formlabs booth (#806) at SOLIDWORKS World 2018 will highlight both of these innovations, with parts 3D printed in Formlabs’ newest engineering materials, and the Fuse 1 SLS printer live printing batches of lightweight, robust nylon parts. Ringbrothers, a designer and manufacturer of custom automotive parts, will also be at the booth showcasing their 3D printing production process for end-use parts—some of which were printed in the new glass-reinforced Rigid Resin.

Your Custom Part, 3D Printed on the Form 2

Conference attendees also have an exclusive chance to see Formlabs’ quality firsthand outside of the show. For the first time ever, Formlabs is offering a limited-time opportunity to bring your design to life on the Form 2: fill out a quick form to request your complimentary custom 3D printed part, sent straight to your door.

Get to Know Formlabs’ Latest Engineering Materials

Formlabs’ library of versatile, reliable resins are formulated to help you reduce costs, iterate faster, and bring better experiences to market. Stop by the booth to see how the latest, Grey Pro and Rigid Resins, can unlock even more applications.

Grey Pro Resin offers high precision, moderate elongation, and low creep. Grey Pro is great for concept modeling and functional prototyping, especially for parts that will be handled repeatedly.

Rigid Resin is reinforced with glass to offer very high stiffness and a polished finish. Rigid is highly resistant to deformation over time and is great for printing thin walls and features.

What’s Next in 3D Printing?

In addition to developing innovative materials to push the limits of 3D printing, Formlabs is also exploring next generation applications and technologies. Stop by the final session of the additive manufacturing symposium on February 5 at 4:30 to hear Formlabs chief product officer Dávid Lakatos take a look at the year ahead for professional 3D printing.

Hear From Industry Experts at the Formlabs Roadshow

To keep the momentum going, on February 8 and 9 Formlabs will host two evening events in Los Angeles featuring expert panelists discussing how to integrate 3D printing into design and manufacturing, and how 3D printing has impacted the entertainment industry. Hear Ringbrothers’ Matt Moseman and SOLIDWORKS’ Michael Puckett discuss the workflow for designing and 3D printing end-use custom automotive parts, and learn from experts at Snap Inc, USC, and more.
