Are you a YouTubing, Facebooking, overall Internet-loving SolidWorks fan? Would you like to get into SolidWorks World 2010 for free? Well, here's your chance.
Starting today, you can enter to win our SolidWorks World 2010 Official Internet Correspondent contest. Just leave a comment in this entry telling us why we should pick you to cover the show. Is it because you think you know SolidWorks World better than anyone else? Do you really know how to get those left-brained developers to open up on camera? Or do you just want to show the guys back home what they're missing?
The winner will meet up with me before the show starts, and I'll give you a camcorder you can use to document the event. You'll get full press access and use of the press room, so start thinking about who you want to talk to. I'll also set you up with a blog account and YouTube access, so you can share your updates with your adoring public. And naturally, you'll be sending out tweets with the #SWW10 hashtag.
Get creative--you can post a video on YouTube and include the link, or maybe start a petition. It's up to you. The contest ends on November 13, and when we get back in the office the following Monday, we'll look through all of the responses and pick the most creative, funny, or plain-old interesting one as the winner.
You can click here to read the full terms and conditions of the contest. In a nutshell, you have to be 21 or older to enter, and citizens of Brazil, China and Quebec aren't eligible (sorry). And if you slack off on your correspondent duties you'll face the unending ridicule of your peers, and no one wants that.
So do you think you have what it takes to be the Official SolidWorks World 2010 Internet Correspondent?

Well, I don't know if nomination is allowed, but Chris Saller (ctopher) has been a trooper in the SolidWorks online world for a long time now, and would make a great candidate for this roll. Best of all, his practically a local!

I second fcsuper's nomination of Chris "Scooter" Saller...if I can nominate someone. If there was anybody who needs to join the blogging pool, its him.

I will also 3rd that nomination and I don't know of this person and have never met with him. But since nomination makers numbers 1&2 think so highly of him I want to nominate him too.

Thank you for the nominations!
I would love to take on the challenge to write and video this great annual event!
Meeting people with various levels of SolidWorks knowledge is what I like to do.
I also live very near this years event and I'm able to spend more time there; maybe some late night drinks with some of the attendees to get some valuable user insights and squabbles! LOL
I also hope to finally meet some online forum friends. Matching the faces with their online names and maybe posting them online would help everyone know each other a little better, especially those across the globe.
Thank you.

Chris will be one of the best person to choose.
If you want me to join the team as SWW 2010 Official Internet Correspondent, then I will say I want to meet everyone out there and show the guys back home what they're really missing by not a part of the event.

As a long time SW user and being new to the blogging world I'd like to throw my hat into the ring as well. I have made a list of reasons why I think I'd be successful over at http://www.3dengr.com/2009/11/can-i-be-solidworks-world-official.html . Either way I hope to be there this year and look forward to meeting a lot of new people.

Considering that most of the guys that have put their hand up so far live just around the corner from where Solidworks World 2010 is going to be hosted, how about you mix things up a bit with someone who can give you a different perspective on things? Like from down under! Yep I'm an Aussie and am planning on boarding a big jet plane (hopefully designed in Solidworks) to venture half way across the globe just to drop in what could be called the worlds biggest CAD nerd convention. I've heard so many stories about SWW that I figured it was about time that I came to check it out first hand. But I don't just want to see all the normal things, I want to see what goes on "after hours" and prove that Solidworks users are not your typical bording CAD jocks!
And I'll make sure I throw a shrimp on the Barbie for you ya's!
Cheers fellas

I am a 19 year old college student. I recently decided that I want to go freelance. I have worked for two steel fabrication companies, and the economy took a real toll on them, resulting in me being laid off, twice. I have been drafting using Solidworks since high school, and purchased 06 SP0 way back when it first came out. Sadly, due to the high cost, I have not had a chance to buy a new version. I would kill for an opportunity to get a hold of an up to date copy. I want to get connected with other Solidworks users. I want to expand my knowledge base, and most importantly I want to experience SolidWorks World for my first time.

Raziel,
Unfortunately, the rules require that you be 21 or older to enter the contest. Sorry.
Some good news though--it sounds like you're eligible for our Engineering Stimulus Package, which gives you a 90-day license of SolidWorks 2009 and a free crack at the CSWA test. You can learn more at www.solidworks.com/ESP.

I don’t know if I am worthy enough, but what I do know is that I love Solidworks and have for many years now and still do. I have used the software since nearly its original release in 1995. I have spent many years in the forums talking, and helping users using Solidworks also some posts were defending Solidworks at how great the product is. I spent 7 years with a VAR getting to understand how the VAR system works as well as Solidworks Corporate. I am back in the Customer field and seeing what customers have to deal with day to day with Solidworks 2009/2010. I am also Vice President of the Southern Indiana Users group.
Solidworks as a company has made leaps and bounds in the software and I have seen it from its primitive days to a strong leader in the MCAD market and I don’t see this company backing down or losing to my long time nemesis AUTOCAD.
Working the camcorder for me would be an easy job since I can see over almost ever user at the conference. I think there is only one user taller than myself that has come to the conferences in the past (that I am aware of). I stand 6’ 9” and rarely have trouble seeing where I am at or where I need to go. Most people ask me what’s going on while standing in a crowd.
One job I have always wanted was to work for the Solidworks. This may not be a paying job, but it’s still a job I would love to try and do. Just a way to show my appreciation for a company that has given me so much not only in a career, but also in prizes and some extremely cool stuff (hats, shirts, iPod’s, posters, etc…). Whether I win or lose I wish the winner good luck and thanks to Solidworks for giving us all a chance.

Just a brief warning concerning my entry:
My poetry often resembles my dancing - no discernible rhythm whatsoever.
Thanks for your consideration, and I hope you enjoy my submission :)

'the lights go out, everyone is quiet'
'cue the music, the curtain rises'
this
is
SOLIDWORKS WORLD 2010!
and I registered back at the beginning of October, so technically you would not have to let me in for free
