Whilst working on a design task this morning it needed to try out a few positional changes in a sketch.
Personally I am a big fan of using the mouse wheel to quickly change the dimension values… but today I found that I could improve on this!
I’m sure you are all familiar with “spin box” increments even if you don’t recognise the name… You can also change the value of the spin box increments in the SW options, by default they are 10mm. this means that when you click the spin box the value changes by 10mm.
Another way to increment using the spin box values is to drag the slider bar or roll your mouse wheel. This gives you quick access to changing your dimensions.
SolidWorks gives you more control… by holding down Ctrl or Alt you can further change how the spin box increments your dimensions. Take a look at the image below:
Using the above info and your middle mouse wheel is a really quick way to make changes in a sketch or anywhere you get the dimension dialogue.
